Education Support
We work alongside Virtual School Heads, EHCP teams, and education providers to keep young people in learning.
Education is a protective factor
For young people in care, school is rarely just about academic attainment. It is routine, identity, peer connection, and a sense of progress. We treat education as one of the most important protective factors in a young person’s life, and we work hard to keep them engaged with it.
Our role is not to deliver education; we are not a registered school. Our role is to make education work for the young person we care for, by partnering effectively with the people and systems around them.
* What we do *
Liaise with the placing authority’s Virtual School Head from the day of referral
Support enrolment, attendance, transport, and engagement at the agreed education setting
Coordinate EHCP reviews, Personal Education Plan meetings, and TAC meetings
Provide a quiet study and sensory room in our outbuilding for homework and learning
Build positive relationships with designated teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral leads
Support re-engagement plans where a young person is not currently in education
* Local education in Greenford *
Our home is well-located for access to a wide range of education provision. Within easy reach we have:
• William Perkin Church of England High School (Ofsted Outstanding, ~0.3 miles)
• The Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School (Ofsted Outstanding, ~0.5 miles)
• Greenford High School (Ofsted Good, ~1.0 miles)
• Coston Primary School, Edward Betham C of E Primary, and several other Good and Outstanding primaries within walking distance
• Springhallow Post-16 (specialist provision, Ofsted Good) and Uxbridge College for post-16 pathways
* When school isn’t working *
Not every young person arrives at Hub Haven Ltd in stable education. Where attendance has broken down, where an alternative provision is being explored, or where an EHCP is in development, we work patiently and proactively to support the next step. We hold a clear position: re-engagement happens at the young person’s pace, supported by trusted relationships, not pressure.
Referral and Partnership?
We are always happy to talk through how our home model could suit a young person you are placing. To discuss a referral, contact Rebecca Saunders (Director) on enquiries@hubhaven.co.uk or 07878 843579.
