Safeguarding and Wellbeing
A trained team, 24/7 oversight, and clear safeguarding pathways aligned to statutory standards.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility
Safeguarding sits at the centre of everything we do at Hub Haven Ltd. It is not a policy on a shelf; it is the lens through which every shift, every key work session, and every external contact is approached. Our practice is grounded in the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, statutory safeguarding guidance, and local safeguarding partnership arrangements.
* How we keep young people safe *
Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) on the senior team, with deputies trained to Level 3
All staff trained in safeguarding before working independently, with regular refresh
Daily handovers, key work sessions, and welfare checks woven into routine
Clear, accessible complaints and concerns process for young people
Independent advocacy available to every young person at any time
Multi-agency working with placing authorities, social workers, LADO, and police where appropriate
* Oversight and accountability *
Strong safeguarding requires strong oversight. Our home is supported by layered governance to ensure nothing falls through the cracks:
• Monthly Regulation 44 independent visits by an external visitor, who speaks with the young person and reviews records
• Regulation 45 quality of care reviews every six months, with formal reporting to Ofsted
• Monthly supervision for every member of staff, with reflective practice on safeguarding themes
• Responsible Individual oversight of the Registered Manager
• 24/7 manager on-call to respond to any concern, day or night
Contextual safeguarding
Risks do not stop at the front door. We work proactively with the young person to understand and manage risks in the wider community, including online activity, peer associations, exploitation, and going missing. Staff are trained to recognise the signs of child sexual exploitation, child criminal exploitation, county lines, and grooming.
Our Location Risk Assessment is reviewed regularly and informs every decision about community access. We work closely with local police, the Ealing Integrated Front Door, and specialist services when needed.
How concerns are raised
Young people can raise concerns directly with any member of staff, with their key worker, with the Registered Manager, or independently through advocacy or Ofsted. They are reminded of their right to be heard regularly, and the process is explained in their Children’s Guide on admission.
Families, professionals, and visitors can also raise concerns through our Complaints Procedure or by contacting the Registered Manager directly.
Referral and Partnership?
We are always happy to talk through how our home model could suit a young person you are placing. To discuss a referral, contact Rebecca Saunders (Director) on enquiries@hubhaven.co.uk or 07878 843579.
